Fitness Friday
Now that I am pregnant I have to do everything by the book I guess or at least as close to it as possible.
I admit in the last month I have gained 16 pounds. Ehh, not good; I attribute some of those 16 pounds to me not having a water pill anymore but the rest of it I am blaming on my unborn baby liking peanut-butter balls. Now please don’t tell me it’s too early for the baby to like or dislike things this is my story and I’m sticking to it. J
My Dr. said that because of my weight it’s ok for me to still lose weight as long as I do it right so I figure its ok. Hey the Dr said so right?
My goal is to lose those 16 pounds that I gained all the while not gaining anymore than the 25-30 pounds that she said is somewhat normal. Still not happy with that but I guess that is healthy.
I did find out that drinking one glass of milk a day can actually help your metabolism so hey I figure two will be even better since I have to anyway.
As far as cooking, well I haven’t been nor have I been exercising. I started cramping and it scared me considering I’ve never been through this before so I asked the Dr and she told me walk. Walk a lot. Nothing strenuous or new for example if I was a runner then it’s ok to run but to be careful. No worries there. I only ran/jogged in my living room with EA SPORTS Active and my wii.
EA SPORTS Active is a whole other story; I think it’s on a case by case basis as far as the exercise thing. I was told not to do EA SPORTS Active because of the running, jumping, squats and things but I could stick with my wii and play games being active and not sitting on the couch. Walking she said is the best but you would think that would get BORING! So, I think I am going to break-out the wii fit plus and do some stepping. It’s low to the ground and something different that I enjoyed doing. Oh, don’t forget the hula and the other not so strenuous things.
Other than that I was told to enjoy, keep exercising and eat more than 2 times a day. Yeah, but it’s hard to eat if you’re not hungry. I guess force it. I will do whatever it takes to keep that baby growing and healthy.
I will be posting some healthy recipes that I am cooking so that we can all share in the wealth of health.

Hey Tonya, you know what? I have to completely admit I didn’t exercise not even 1 minute during both of my pregnancies. But I was SO tired the entire 9 months so if you can exercise I highly recommend it!
As for the “book” don’t stress about going by the book, do what feels right for you and the baby. Take care

Tonya, I’m so excited for you and your little baby! I would say that the Wii Fit Plus is a great way to be active when you’re pregnant. The step, and the balance games, even a few of the aerobic exercises!
If you want to eat more times during the day, eat less each time, about 1 cup servings, or the size of your fist. And if you switch to all whole grains, brown rice, very little sugar, you will not gain too much weight! I did this with my third baby, and i only gained 18 pounds. I never felt better!

Indeed, exercise is good for pregnant women so long that you are doing it right. Yes, no strenuous routine or exercise programs. Just do what is apt for your situation and health, as well as your baby’s. Swimming is the best form of exercise too for expectant mom like you. So you should give it a try. As for walking, if you find it boring then incorporate it with something enjoyable like walk around the mall or the neighborhood with music playing on your ears. As your ears are tuning in to pleasant sound, delight your eyes with the scenery around you as well. And as for eating goes, eat several small meals a day with lots of fiber, calcium and folate-rich foods.
Happy pregnancy to you. Enjoy this momentous journey!

I did low impact aerobics and stepping. I was active right up until delivery. As long as you don’t over do it, you should be OK.
