My Weight-Loss Journey

Moving on up! To the Sky… I won’t sing it’s not very pretty. Anyhow, this is about as new to me as it is to you so be patient PA’LEASEE.

My weight loss journey started when I was a child. I have never been a thin person. At around age 13 or 14 I was at 195 lbs. so you can imagine I have struggled with this for a long time. I have a GREAT family and they support me with everything I try. I have tried losing weight every way I hear about; nothing seemed to have worked. I have tried Adkins, grapefruit, calorie counting, fat watching, just plain not eating and Weight Watcher’s and nothing worked. I guess I shouldn’t say nothing did Weight Watcher’s did work until I couldn’t afford to keep going to the meetings. I really liked the support, but I always gained back what I lost plus more.

Jumping ahead many many years; now 33 years old and at 257 lbs, which is 38 lbs. lighter than in November of 2008. I went to my Dr. in November of 2008 and was shocked to hear what she had to ask; she asked me if I wanted to live till I was 35 years old. Given my family history this is what I was headed for. Needless to say she scared the crap out of me.

I then started to watch what I was drinking. I was consuming 3-12 packs of soda at least and the sweet tea OMG; hubby makes the best sweet tea I have ever tasted. None of my liquid consumption was what I needed; WATER. I know drink water out the wazoo! It’s like I crave water especially if it’s ice cold. I still grab a soda sometimes but have a hard time finishing it.

Now, to how I have been losing weight. After the Dr. in November I started paying attention to what I was eating. The hard part is that it was right there at the holidays when I am making cookies, breads, cakes etc from scratch so they are extra good and extra fattening. I did well I didn’t over do it and I did eat some of it just not like normal.

I drank a lot of water and watched what I ate it slowly started coming off. At Christmas hubby bought me a wii and I love it. Then my dad bought me the wii fit and WOW I have some fun. Now, EA SPORTS ACTIVE for the wii came out and I got it. I love it; it gives me all the work out I need. I sometimes think I am going to “SWEAT to DEATH.”

EA SPORTS ACTIVE is AWESOME! I like that is has a journal that you can fill in to get some credit for what you are doing around the house or going walking any exercise that you have done not using the wii. It also keeps you in check with the amount of water you are consuming everyday. It has games too; I like the inline skating and boxing and OMG I almost forgot, I am a big girl and I love to run. Can you believe it? I am excited about that because I have never liked running.

You DO NOT have to have wii fit in order to use EA SPORTS ACTIVE, I thought you did when I received wii game. I also thought that is was just another exercise game for the wii and not really going to help but to me it’s not about the exercise it’s actually fun. Not that I don’t get a heck of a work out because it kicks my BUTT. I love it I can’t say anything bad about it.

EA SPORTS ACTIVE comes with leg strap, a resistance band and the disc. You do have to use the wii remote and nunchuck. It so easy and if you have an extra nunchuck and wii remote you can even play with a friend. I am telling you it is awesome. If you have the chance run out and grab a copy because I would definitely recommend this wii game; I am glad I have the chance to use mine.

This was not supposed to be about EA SPORTS ACTIVE but it seems as if it has turned that direction. I am still working on my weight and still using the game; so I will be making periodic updates on my journey.

“Fu Fu or No Fu Fu”

What do you do when all of the sudden you wake up one day and wonder why things are the way they are? Why do you not get up in the morning and get dressed and put make-up on? Why just get up and throw a pair of sweats and a t-shirt on instead of a casually nice outfit? Do you not really know what to do or how to dress for yourself?

As you might have noticed I am talking about myself. I have been contemplating these very questions for a while. I have come to the conclusion; I believe I just don’t know how. It seems simple enough but to figure out what goes with what and when and where and how to actually get this accomplished is seriously over-whelming.

I guess before I really get into things very deep I need to give a little background. Literally, I get up and throw a pair of sweats on and an oversized t-shirt not kidding every morning I have proof, also the hair goes up in a spider clip or one like it or the cap goes on. Then I start my day. Oh yeah I try to do anything I can without shoes because I just hate them can you believe a female hating shoes. If, I do wear shoes it’s because I have to go in a store or something but even then most places will let you if they don’t see it Wal-Mart . I hardly ever wear shoes out of the house; always keep a pair in the car.

So, the question is; where do I start? I was always told to dress comfortable so I did. Now it seems as if that is not good enough for me. I want to start being more ummmm how do you say it fufu as my husband calls it but not to the extent of “OH MY GOSH I HAVE TO HAVE THAT.” I can’t deal with that. What if I did and I actually like it? I know change is good but is this too drastic of a change? Either way, I don’t know where to start.

Now, make-up OMG! Where do you start with that one?  There are so many different types, colors, shades, applicators etc. what in the world am I getting myself into. I have been told there are bad kinds of make-up; made from animals and some not lasting just to name two. I hope I can figure this out.

If anyone has any suggestions PLEASE email me using the Contact Page or leave a comment; I would love to discuss this more. I will be writing more on this topic because I know a lot of people that are having this same issue.

Clothes and shoes what in the world is going on; I mean there are so many different styles out there I don’t even know where to begin. If you’re heavy a person is to suppose to wear this type of clothing and tall another type. What happens is you are tall and heavy? I think I am stuck in the middle so what happens to me? I believe this is going to be an ongoing discussion and project.

Also, if anyone/business needs a review of any type of product including make-up, hair supplies etc. Please contact me using the Contact Page so that I can get back with you ASAP. I believe this will benefit us both on many levels.

I want to say THANK YOU to some of the BEST Friends anyone could have. We had the best time today swimming and eating and enjoying family quality time with you and your family. It takes special people to include others in their family activities. We both say “Thank You.”

Oh, and next time you have to let me bring something. Again, we had a blast and hope to do it again.

Summer Fun

OMG! Today we went to some friend’s house to go swimming. Boy did we have fun. We ate and swam ate some more swam some more; we had a blast. There is nothing better for anyone to do on a HOT summer day.

First of all if you have a swimming pool perfect do it at your house if not public pools are open. Have a cook-out its fun for the whole family; just make sure that you have things to keep the kids occupied. Normally the pool is enough but with some we know that just isn’t going to work.

Today the kids played “Chicken” (in the pool), I had never heard of that one then “Marco Polo” it was awesome to see all the kids playing together and there was a mixture of ages. To be honest it kind of surprised me.

Basically, you know what is needed for a cook-out; friends and family either/or, good food and fun. Today we had hamburgers, hotdogs, brats, Doritos and nuts. The drinks were cold and awesome really hit the spot; we had soda, water, beer and we all know I like all of the above including the food.

Literally, all we did all day was eat and swim and spend time with some of the best people. I know this post is quite small but what else can you say about a cook-out/swim party.

I am making another post following this one and will add some pictures as soon as I get them. I didn’t have my camera; can you believe that one.

FOOD FRIDAY!!!

Today is Food Friday so here is one of our Favorite Things to cook on the Grill. This is what I use so it can be changed to fit your tastes.

Lemon Pepper Chicken

You will need

  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 1 lime
  • ¼ cup Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing
  • 2 tbsp. Lemon Pepper Seasoning

I take the chicken and put it in a glass baking dish, add the raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Roll the lime a bit to break up the juices, slice it and squeeze over the chicken. Let it sit for about ½ in marinade before cooking.

I use a gas grill so I don’t have to let mine heat as long but ready your grill in the meantime. When the grill is ready I place the chicken on the grill and sprinkle the Lemon Pepper Seasoning over the chicken evenly.

Cook till chicken is done all the way through.

With this chicken we also like Steamed veggies i.e.… Baby carrots, summer squash and broccoli. I use a veggie seasoning from Mc Cormick to season the veggies. I don’t use a lot because of the sodium that I find in some (most) seasoning, maybe some Mac & cheese if hubby is nice. This meal is served up nice with some grill garlic bread.

I hope you enjoy and let me know how you like it.
