OK we all know I am not officially a mommy yet, unless you count the one in the oven.  Either way, here is my outlook on food, pregnancy, and Dr.’s being overly cautious.

My OB says no lunch meat unless I heat it to the point of steaming EVERYTIME. Me personally I don’t like hot lunch meat unless it’s a fried bologna sandwich. Now understanding the reason that this was requested I can see where it might be a concern but if I am not going to eat lunch meat because of Salmonella then I am not going to eat chicken or veggies or anything.

I have noticed I love a good sandwich and I love Subway. When I lost those 60 pounds before getting pregnant I ate a lot of lunch meat. It always started out as a sandwich but usually took half that off because of getting full.

Now, I know I am pregnant and I know I have to be sensible in losing weight. But as of Tuesday at the Dr. I have gained 40 pounds in 6 months and I am not happy. So with that being said in 3 months when this baby decides to bless us with his presence let’s see how much weight I can drop.

Wish me luck; I will be talking about this until then.

This is my first Fitness Friday in a while. I have been tending to my six-month old soccer-ball in my belly. I always heard it was no big deal being pregnant but when you are pregnant you thinking tend to change a bit. Whether it is on the topic of nutrition or exercise or just how you want to raise your child and with what beliefs. Today is solely on what goes through a person’s mind while they are pregnant concerning fitness and nutrition.

Before I start I have to say this is my first pregnancy and I am speaking from my experience only (so far) things might change a bit later.

Here is a brief history on me…

I, like a lot of people was/is overweight. If you look at my blog history you will find the whole story but here is just a bite in case you are in a time crunch. I lost 60 pounds and then found out I was pregnant.

I was afraid and excited at the same time. I wanted to continue losing weight but was on blood pressure medicine and they changed it when we found out. So, I am seriously retaining a lot of fluid. I gained 16 pounds the first month we found out (which was also the month they changed my meds.) So, in six and a half months I have gained 31 pounds so I am assuming at this rate I will be gaining all of my weight back.

One thing I have to keep and will surely try to keep in my head is to think positive. I lost the initial 60 pounds thinking positive and eating healthier and using the Wii and EA SPORTS Active. I love both of them and what they have helped me achieve.

Eating healthy isn’t always the easiest thing to do. I know in my situation it’s because I do not know enough about healthier eating to do it right. In the beginning I found out the more colorful your food is the better it is for you. I loved it because I thought I could have all the skittles I wanted. OK, maybe that wasn’t true but it sounded good.

Now that summer is approaching I am going to plant me a little garden. I need fresh veggies to cook and I want to start now so that I can set a good example to our son (when he’s born.) In about a month I will be planting tomatoes, carrots, green beans and squash (summer and zucchini). Not sure how it’s all going to turn out but it’s worth a try anyway. Fresh veggies are so expensive and I tend to not cook them fast enough so it would be cheaper for me to grow them.

I have been walking more this past week. I am going to get my pedometer back out to make sure I hit my goal steps like I was before. I need to for the health of my little one and for me.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I am starting over and want to stay where I am at concerning my weight. I know it will not hurt me to lose weight or stay the same.

Thanks for stopping by check back next week for any new updates.

Fitness Friday

OK, this is a personal slap in the face to me, myself and I. I have been slacking to the point if I do not do what I need to physically I am terrified of giving birth (although I have several months to go.)

Today I am going to make a whole other page dedicated to my Wii Fit experience and exercising because I need to be a healthier me. I need to find a way to keep my energy up besides caffeine (which I am not drinking) but I need something. I am exhausted and I know I am not eating right so that has a bit to do with it.

Here is where you all come in…

  • Help hold me accountable
  • If you see I didn’t post my daily wii pic yell at me. (OK be nice about it I might get a bit grumpy.) lmao
  • Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated and very helpful

I know I want a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby but I am afraid I’ll require some help on the healthy part because I am not feeling the foods that are good for me.  Actually nothing really tastes good.

Please reply all of your suggestions as well as; shoot just reply any help will be appreciated.

Now that I am pregnant I have to do everything by the book I guess or at least as close to it as possible.

I admit in the last month I have gained 16 pounds. Ehh, not good; I attribute some of those 16 pounds to me not having a water pill anymore but the rest of it I am blaming on my unborn baby liking peanut-butter balls. Now please don’t tell me it’s too early for the baby to like or dislike things this is my story and I’m sticking to it. J

My Dr. said that because of my weight it’s ok for me to still lose weight as long as I do it right so I figure its ok. Hey the Dr said so right?

My goal is to lose those 16 pounds that I gained all the while not gaining anymore than the 25-30 pounds that she said is somewhat normal. Still not happy with that but I guess that is healthy.

I did find out that drinking one glass of milk a day can actually help your metabolism so hey I figure two will be even better since I have to anyway.

As far as cooking, well I haven’t been nor have I been exercising. I started cramping and it scared me considering I’ve never been through this before so I asked the Dr and she told me walk. Walk a lot. Nothing strenuous or new for example if I was a runner then it’s ok to run but to be careful. No worries there. I only ran/jogged in my living room with EA SPORTS Active and my wii.

EA SPORTS Active is a whole other story; I think it’s on a case by case basis as far as the exercise thing. I was told not to do EA SPORTS Active because of the running, jumping, squats and things but I could stick with my wii and play games being active and not sitting on the couch. Walking she said is the best but you would think that would get BORING! So, I think I am going to break-out the wii fit plus and do some stepping. It’s low to the ground and something different that I enjoyed doing. Oh, don’t forget the hula and the other not so strenuous things.

Other than that I was told to enjoy, keep exercising and eat more than 2 times a day. Yeah, but it’s hard to eat if you’re not hungry. I guess force it. I will do whatever it takes to keep that baby growing and healthy.

I will be posting some healthy recipes that I am cooking so that we can all share in the wealth of health.

I have to say I have been kind of bad. I have not played on the Wii or used EA SPORTS Active or More Workouts. I have had a lot going on that were not in my control but I do feel that my time was very well spent. All in all I did watch what I ate; more than just watching it go on my fork and in my mouth.

I have said several times that I am so excited that I have lost 60 pounds but I can’t tell it. Well guess what? I can now and it’s all my mom’s fault. When I got to her house all I heard about was that my clothes were too big; that I needed to buy some clothes that fit instead of wearing those old baggy things (to me hey it’s all about comfort.) So I didn’t have to listen to it anymore I said ok let’s go to Walmart (ha it’s the only store in Okeechobee.) We did and she through a fit because I wasn’t going to try my new pants on so I did. Much to my surprise they were too big. So, I had to get a smaller size; I did and again too big finally the next ones fit.

Knowing that all clothes fit different and sizes don’t really make sense because I don’t believe any two manufactures are the same; I am still excited. I bought me a few pairs of new pants that I can wear and do fit. Now my mother and I are both happy. Here is the best part. Are you ready? This past Wednesday my mother, aunt and I went to Universal Studios for the day. I cannot tell you when the last time I was able to go through a turn-style without turning sideways; I didn’t even notice it my mom did. I was shocked I went back through thinking I would have noticed that.

Thinking back to when I started I was wearing a 24-26 pants and a few days ago I bought a 16/18 and a 18/20. Sizing is a big deal to me because I have a BIG BUTT. That is not being negative just honest.

So to anyone and I mean anyone that thinks they can’t lose weight on their own TRUST ME it can be done. It might not be easy all the time but it gets easier as you go. You will have your ups and downs everyone does you just have to keep on. You can’t let it beat you.
