This is my first Fitness Friday in a while. I have been tending to my six-month old soccer-ball in my belly. I always heard it was no big deal being pregnant but when you are pregnant you thinking tend to change a bit. Whether it is on the topic of nutrition or exercise or just how you want to raise your child and with what beliefs. Today is solely on what goes through a person’s mind while they are pregnant concerning fitness and nutrition.
Before I start I have to say this is my first pregnancy and I am speaking from my experience only (so far) things might change a bit later.
Here is a brief history on me…
I, like a lot of people was/is overweight. If you look at my blog history you will find the whole story but here is just a bite in case you are in a time crunch. I lost 60 pounds and then found out I was pregnant.
I was afraid and excited at the same time. I wanted to continue losing weight but was on blood pressure medicine and they changed it when we found out. So, I am seriously retaining a lot of fluid. I gained 16 pounds the first month we found out (which was also the month they changed my meds.) So, in six and a half months I have gained 31 pounds so I am assuming at this rate I will be gaining all of my weight back.
One thing I have to keep and will surely try to keep in my head is to think positive. I lost the initial 60 pounds thinking positive and eating healthier and using the Wii and EA SPORTS Active. I love both of them and what they have helped me achieve.
Eating healthy isn’t always the easiest thing to do. I know in my situation it’s because I do not know enough about healthier eating to do it right. In the beginning I found out the more colorful your food is the better it is for you. I loved it because I thought I could have all the skittles I wanted. OK, maybe that wasn’t true but it sounded good.
Now that summer is approaching I am going to plant me a little garden. I need fresh veggies to cook and I want to start now so that I can set a good example to our son (when he’s born.) In about a month I will be planting tomatoes, carrots, green beans and squash (summer and zucchini). Not sure how it’s all going to turn out but it’s worth a try anyway. Fresh veggies are so expensive and I tend to not cook them fast enough so it would be cheaper for me to grow them.
I have been walking more this past week. I am going to get my pedometer back out to make sure I hit my goal steps like I was before. I need to for the health of my little one and for me.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I am starting over and want to stay where I am at concerning my weight. I know it will not hurt me to lose weight or stay the same.
Thanks for stopping by check back next week for any new updates.
