The Goranflo family is asking for help. They need to raise 1,000,000.00 (one million) dollars to get their son help that might save his life. EA SPORTS Active 5K Challenge in Okeechobee, Florida went AWESOME!

We started at 8 am and it took a little longer than expected because of an accident but I will get to that later. We did walk the 5K and loved it. It was absolutely beautiful. I have some great pictures to share with everyone.

We (my mom) had about 17 people plus kids so altogether about 27. The kids did GREAT. The age range was from 7 to 67 and I was so excited to see everyone meshing so well. The older people were so encouraging and positive (which I am not used to.) It was Awesome; that is all I can say.

I believe everyone had a blast being able to socialize with others and be Active at the same time. My mother (Mary) plans on doing this every month from now on. She was asked about EA SPORTS Active and was answering questions about the product and a few didn’t even have it so they were going to buy it. AWESOME!  More people going to work out. How can anyone not love it?

The most important thing we all learned was not to play around. We were in a fun setting as we all enjoyed each other’s company and were seriously having fun. As I mentioned before we had one of our walkers leave in an Ambulance. It was not a pretty site and we wish it had not happened. We ALL need to stress the importance of being/staying safe. I would suggest WE all carry our cell phones no matter what. In this case we did have our cell phones but was not close enough to see it happen. Someone did come up on him and let them use a cell phone to call 911 and get help. The man suffered from a compound fracture and a blow to the head. They wanted to Stat flight him to the hospital because he was losing consciousness. He did have surgery and now there is a metal bracelet in his wrist not just a plate but because it’s wrapped all the way around his wrist the hospital is calling it a bracelet.  He did get to come home last night so he is doing better but still has a ways to go.

PLEASE everyone be careful when doing any type of exercise it is extremely important. In this case; it could have been worse (not to down play any of this)but just imagining what could have happened. It could have been so much worse. Please everyone BE CAREFUL.

After all is said and done at the hospital the injured man is mad they had to cut his walk T-shirt off him. So ending on a happy note I will give him another shirt and show you all some pictures of the most eventful day of my vacation in Okeechobee, Florida.

Here are some pictures of the walk so you can see we did have an AWESOME TIME!!

Pictures will be added tomorrow. I just got home from vacation and cannot seem to find the cord to my phone. I will put them up tomorrow.

On Vacation

The little hints that were left throughout last week tell a bit about where we are this week. As some of you know Joe and I are on vacation in Florida. We are getting to spend some much needed time with our mothers. My mother found out before we left only because she had to pick us up at the airport but his mother knew nothing till we walked in the door.

Neither of us has seen our mothers in over a year. I hate that. His mother is not in good health and mine it busy taking care of my Grandfather that has Alzheimer’s. So neither of them actually get to get out and do anything. This week was special. I wish you all could have seen my husband’s mother (Jo) when we walked in the door. It was priceless; my mother and I both had the camera but we both immediately start crying and didn’t get her first reaction in a picture.

My mother officially found out when a few days earlier but it didn’t fully hit her until that morning. She was so excited that she had to come get us in Orlando which is around two hours north of Okeechobee she was excited to just get out of the house for a change by herself. She had someone watching grandpa so he didn’t have to make that all day trip.

After mom picked us up we ate the airport we met up with some friends that we have online for dinner. It was so GREAT. Although I talk to these people every night it’s still nice to see them in person. We went to the Olive Garden and I had never been there before and it has become my FAVORITE place to eat. We will definitely be back.

Jo (Joe’s mom) doesn’t go anywhere because it wears her out to get out and do any running. Its legit her health is just that bad. Today, surprise us both Jo is at my mother’s house right now as we speak with us. We are all watching the NASCAR race in my mother’s living room and enjoying it immensely. To me right now it could not be better.  We just ate dinner (no it was not healthy) but I will deal with that one. I just can’t believe she is here. It’s just so perfect for us all to be in the same house spending time together.

Today my grandpa fell getting out of the house. Mom had a hard time getting him up. Grandpa is ok but mom is not; it makes her think about what if Joe wasn’t here. Joe just went and picked him up which is great but she worries about next time. Luckily, she has a lot of people that would come running. It’s scary that he is in the shape he is in. That is just not right our parents and grandparents get in that shape. That is a whole other story that I will get into at a later time.

There is more to our vacation and we did take pictures but I will post them when we get home. Just wanted to give everyone an update and say I’m still alive and I miss you all.

MY EASPORTS Active 5K Challenge

My 5K was today. This morning I had the alarm set for 6am, knowing I hate mornings but was excited to accomplish my goal for today. I got up hit snooze several times and by 6:30 I was tired of hitting snooze so I got up finally. I was being real nice honey it’s time to get up we have to do the 5K this morning only to get it’s my weekend off let me sleep till it’s time to leave. HA!

Well, it’s time to leave so I wake him up and hand him his clothes he throws them on and we hit the door. We drive five streets away to get the other 5K’ers and head to our destination. Our first (planned destination was Moore High School which became and issue then not. As of last night they were going to let us use the track again but this morning it was locked up tighter than a chastity belt. So, we keep on driving; we go to Jefferson Mall’s parking lot which was better because we only had to walk 2 times around to make the 5K. I think it was better mentally. Two times around is better than twelve.

Yea! It’s time we have arrived at out final destination and we are ready with our pants/sweats on because it’s a cold 51 degrees with a genuinely cold wind. We were supposed to have more people but they all backed out on me.

Below are my loyal 5K’ers that stuck it out with me.

At first no one was running I was taking as many pictures as I could. I was also supposed to be tweeting but I found out early on I am not coordinated enough to talk, tweet and walk.

I walked my 5K with my husband he has not so good knees. My dad (Pete) and step-mom (Brenda) and two step-brothers (Scott and Justin) also walked. Let’s say my brother’s started out walking but somehow just kind of took off. I look and they are running and then walking. Awesome! I am so proud of them. I am also proud of my dad and Brenda neither of them get much exercise mostly around the house so it was GREAT to have them this morning.

Because of the temperature no one was willing to take their jackets off so I could get pictures of what they were Active for. So, after breakfast when we were back home Joe (hubby) took a picture of mine and I did get his.

It was so exciting to accomplish this. I worked on it but being honest I did not do like I should have. I felt great (other than the temperature lol) and it was Awesome having my family with me. They all support me so much in my own personal journey and this one just one more to add to the list.

I was proud to see my family up this morning; I was not sure they would actually come through. If they read this; THANK YOU! I also want to Thank EA SPORTS Active for giving us this challenge. I for one would not have even considered this if they did not put this challenge out there. EA SPORTS Active has helped me become more Active using the Personal Trainer and I even had fun doing it.

Any and all opinions/posts on my website “Tonoogle Talks” are my opinion and are not influenced in any way. For being a Community Leader for my area; I received t shirts for my group and when EA SPORTS Active “More Workouts” is in stores I will receive (1) copy from them.
